The film is finished and the war lingers.

This has been the longest gap in the relatively routine flow of posts in this blog. The war turned everything upside down. Even  though I witnessed the explosions and destruction of my home town , from a distance and through the drips of videos captured by Tehranians who stayed, there is no doubt that the period of so called 12 days war, have reshaped us all, inside and outside the country.

After such a period, there comes a time of re assessing, re evaluation and re defining. Everything finds new meaning and this affects all aspects of life. It is not only one's relationship to her country,  her homeland but also human relationships, friendships , reflecting on how true or untrue they are, family, motherhood, basic moral grounds like belief in peace and humanity  can easily be shaken by  the violence of war. The polarities become even more extreme and it is even harder to defend one's belief in human values. Closest people become far apart, distant people become close friends. Borders and barriers are shaken and new ones are aroused.

On the outside, you seem like someone living a normal life. School runs, doing the day job, food shopping , cooking but on the  inside ,all the  fundamental feelings are shaken and reshaped. You are like a shell of your old self and inside you are transforming.

The body doesn’t stay the same either. It is not all in the head. I am now officially dealing with chronic disease and the day to day pain, shifts the perspective and meaning on an hourly basis and adds to the perspective shift.

I am back here, writing, looking almost the same but not really the same.

In the meantime, The Walnut of Knowledge is finished and is waiting to be screened and seen.

We also had a great screening of Slovenian Double-bill at CinemaRediscovered Festival about the lesser known experimental cinema of 60s to 80’s of  the former Socialist Republic of Slovenia. It was refreshing to see

all the amazing  work of  amazing  filmmakers to celebrate 10’th anniversary of BEEF.
